Blog #26

So, in a previous blog (#18) I stated how not to judge students on what career options they like and want to follow. I actually got a lot of pageviews on that blog (129 I think). And although I stand by my principle that the commerce section is not at all inferior to the science section, I got to say, most commerce students are a bunch of idiots.

The commerce boys section is one of the many reasons boys in the senior secondary are always frowned upon. Any appearance by a guest of honor is welcomed with snide comments and the general ape-like behavior. The mere mention of a girl's name gets their blood pumping all sorts of crazy. Most of them lack decorum, public decency, sense of admiration, gratitude, I could go on and on. Sometimes I just feel like punching the inoculum student(new biology word i learnt, means starter or spark, Don't think i used it in the right context though). Now, the reason I am typing this right now is because I was angry after what I saw. Let's say, i got 'triggered' after i saw the IHS (that's Indian High School) Social Media Council web page on Facebook. Its really good, you should check it out on the link down below. Anyways, I am scrolling through all these posts trying to find a video a friend of mine, Elizabeth(not her real name) mentioned, about the new Zumba Fitness Challenge that's going rampant in our school, which I am a part of. I find the video albeit funny and cool, I just don't find the boys section video as well. I know they took recordings of every practice, with all the looming cameramen, but i didn't spot a single video with the guys dancing. Being curious, I look over to the other posts and realize, that there isn't a single post with anyone from the boys section. and I am excluding the one where there's a photo of the supervisor with about thirty boys who got 10 CGPAs in their 10th grade. That's pathetic!

When you compare it with the girls, they have posters, teachers posing for selfies, a couple of DJs from a radio station posing, their happiness assemblies, their cook-off challenges, their Science fair, their exercise videos and various other programs. They even do theater, for crying out loud!! And what do the boys do? Talk about United Nations, Expo 2020, and other boring stuff that anyone can read online.

Its as if the school lost hope in its boys section and rely on the girls to do the better job at improving their school's image. We are not that bad! We know how to do stuff, I think. Its just the really bad rep that the boys section gets, specifically because of the commerce section.

My point being, its the man at the building entrance all over again, except this time he's an entire staff of teachers, supervisors and committee members who just don't care about any of the men.
Okay, we are not men. We are sissy little cry babies most times actually. Still, i don't think that that's an way to treat a student. The girls are being treated like little princesses while the guys are branded as sexual predators(95% of us are not, except for some of the commerce kids, those guys are just the worst).

I tried to put up a blog a while back, but I still have exams at school, so I will try to write one more in November sometime. Till then, why don't you go one ahead and read Blog #18 if you are already haven't.
This is the link to the web page, its actually really well done by the girls, not going to lie.
