Blog #24

" Life is like a roller-coaster.", they say. "You need to live through its ups and downs.", they say. Well, I get motion sickness.

I believe in the existence of a higher power. God or not, there is something or someone looking down upon us, toying with us and our lives, influencing our decisions with bias and out of spite. It's like a game of cards, where the best hand wins you everything, but you never if and when you get the best one. Life has been dealing me all the bad ones right now, as if dealing with prejudice. It has gotten so bad that I developed the habit of counting my luck as it runs out. If something good happens to me, my mind immediately wavers to thinking about the consequences and repercussions. Or, if something bad happens, I breath a sigh of relief that at least I will have something fun later. I guess that's the reason my friend called too optimistic about life.

The other day, I was walking home from tuition and took a longer route than normal. As I am walking by a mosque, I hear a really high pitch of a sound somewhere in the grass. At first I shrug it off as a bird song, but when I move closer to the origin, turns out it was a day old kitten. Well not necessarily day old but judging from its size, I assumed its age. I know, totally stereotyping. Anyways, I pick it up out of love for the feline species and decide to give it some water from a food place nearby. I ask the man for a lid of water, a lid mind you. He gives me a glass and charges me for it. What even!? The kitten drinks up about a hundredth of the water and in front of the cashier's face, I pour it onto a grass patch.

I brought it home, knowing not the riots and pain it will cost us. It has been four days ever since, and we plan on giving it away. Reason? Apparently our own well-fed, well-watered, royal snowball of a cat does not like sharing space with a kitten, always hissing and running away in fright. This is an example of how my beliefs take control of me. Out of all the billion cats in the world who get along just fine, I had to know two who don't.

I know, these look like petty issues and I am barely scratching the surface here, wasting a blog on kitten conflicts, but there is nothing interesting in my life enough to blog about. The things that are, I don't want to write about, because they mostly include my friends who read this blog. Yes, you.
